The early Guzzi V engines, a pulley is front mounted on the crankshaft, and this is much too vague, as that you could install some (affordable) sensors. The most obvious is to take the ignition signals from the distributor housing. The inner workings of the Distributor will be completely removed and replaced with the sensor unit with Hall sensors. The Distributor CAP is used only as a dummy. The adjustment is made by turning the magnetic disc. The correct position is indicated by the LED on the sensor unit. The backlash of gears between the camshaft and distributor has not disruptive effects. For adjusting the magnetic disc, make sure that the distributor shaft is on the edge of the intervention of the gearing, against the normal direction of rotation. Because the old ignition distributor is completely omitted, an extra second ignition coil must be installed now. All ignition coils can be used with an input impedance > 2 ohms.
The conversion is not complicated, but it requires technical basic knowledge, especially since often the upper edge of the distributor housing is not round, but "oval" deformed. Similarly tricky can make the expansion of the distributor base plate, as also the installation of the new unit.
