Dellorto Carburetors
New, complete carburetors from Dellorto: PHF and PHM for the big Moto Guzzi twins and the Ducati bevel-drive models, PHBH, and small two-stroke carburetors such as PHVA, PHBG or SHA for scooters and mopeds. Each product description lists the jetting and, where known, the matching motorcycles.
Which Dellorto carburetor do I need?
The easiest way is to look at your old carburetor. Dellorto stamps the type into the body, for example “PHF 30 DD” or “PHBH 28 BS”. The letters at the front name the series, the number is the bore in millimetres and the letters after it describe the version.
Left or right?
On the carburetor pairs for Moto Guzzi and Ducati, the last letter shows the side: D means right (Italian destra), S means left (sinistra). A Le Mans or California therefore needs one D and one S carburetor. On the Ducati bevel-drive models, the PHM 40 AD1 goes on the horizontal cylinder and the PHM 40 AS1 on the vertical one.
Scooters, mopeds and karts
PHVA, PHBN, PHBG, PHBL, SHA and VHST are two-stroke carburetors. Here the last letters do not mean the side but the version: lever, cable or electric choke, with or without oil and vacuum connection. Before ordering, compare the choke type, the spigot size and the air filter connection with your old carburetor. The dimensions are listed in each product description.
Adjusting the jetting
The jetting in the product description is a starting point. With a different exhaust, an open air filter or a modified engine it often needs adjusting. Our Dellorto jetting database lists the factory jetting of many motorcycles. Single main jets, idle jets, needles and atomizers are available in the shop, as well as a main jet kit with a selectable starting size.
New carburetor or rebuild?
Often a rebuild with a new gasket kit, needle valve and float is enough. A new carburetor makes more sense if the body or slide guide is worn or important parts are missing.
